Helgstrand's Carabas Sold to Rainer and Jessica Schwiebert

November 26, 2009

CarabasThe 12-year old Holsteiner licensed stallion Carabas, Andreas Helgstrand's number one and only actively competed Grand Prix horse of the moment, has been sold to Rainer Schwiebert and his wife Jessica Jahr of the German equestrian centre Helenenhof.

Carabas is already back in Germany and trained again by Oliver Luze who brought the stallion to Grand Prix level before getting sold to Helgstrand's wealthy sponsor, the Vagner family. Jahr is the daughter of the late Jon Jahr, owner of Germany's biggest and most influential newspaper company which has at least 60 publications in their portfolio, including Stern and Brigitte. Schwiebert is a dressage trainer and he brought, for instance, Heike Kemmer's former Grand Prix horse Albano to top level.

"After long and hard consideration I decided to say yes to their offer, mainly because I have new horses coming along with which I make a good combination," said Helgstrand. "It is clear that no I no longer have a top horse to compete internationally but I have many super young horses in my stable of which I have high expectations. I'm actively looking for a new Grand Prix horse so that I can be back quickly at international level."
