Anky's Music DVD and CD Now Available in the U.S.A.

October 17, 2006

Trafalgar Square Books is pleased to announce the release of Anky’s Music by Victor Kerkhof and Cees Slings, on October 15, 2006 in the USA.

Anky van Grunsven and Salinero once again proved their astounding ability to dazzle a crowd as they became the World Dressage Freestyle Champions at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, with a breathtaking result of 86.5%. Lauded as the “Queen of the Kür,” van Grunsven’s streak of winning freestyles is no accident. In 1996, she debuted the first ever originally composed freestyle music for a horse, Bonfire’s Symphony, and won individual Olympic silver. She has worked with the composers of this dressage masterpiece—Victor Kerkhof and Cees Slings—ever since.

Kerkhof and Slings, experienced with both pop artists and large orchestras, have composed and produced music for television series, wildlife programs, and documentaries broadcast in more than 52 countries. Now considered the leading kür music composers, they reveal their secrets to arranging a winning freestyle in this unique DVD and CD combination.

The DVD features the step-by-step making of the 2004 Olympic-gold-winning L’Esprit Chanson, spectacular show clips of Anky van Grunsven’s horses, the original choreography process, and exclusive photographs from leading equestrian photographer Arnd Bronkhorst. The broadcast-quality CD includes the complete collection of van Grunsven’s musical freestyles, including Bonfire’s Symphony, Partout’s James Bond Kür, Bonfire’s West Side Story, Partout’s Tango, Bonfire’s Something Old, Something New, Idool’s DVD Kür, and Salinero’s L’Esprit Chanson, plus three bonus tracks.

Dutch composers VICTOR KERKHOF and CEES SLINGS have been the composers and producers of Anky van Grunsven’s freestyles for more than nine years. They have also composed for other international riders, such as Robert Dover, Tineke Bartels, Kirsten Beckers, and Wayne Channon. In addition, Kerkhof and Slings were the official composers for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, the 2003 European Dressage Championships in Hickstead, England, and the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany.
