Sky High Price for Skygate Hit at 2005 Hanoverian Foal Auction

With 210 foals being auctioned at the 2005 Hanoverian Foal Auction in Verden, it would have been a miracle if there weren't any top quality foals in the auction lot. Three foals sold over 50,000 euro, and the price highlight was the colt Skygate Hit (Sandro Hit x Brentano II x Wendekreis) for which Gerd Knoop of Gestut Hoftehof in Meppen paid the skyhigh price of 75,000 euro. Knoop already did some heavy shopping at the Elite Foal Auction in Munster last week, but his thirst for more was not yet quenched. He had to have the Michael Schoning bred Sandro Hit colt as well and wanted to pay the big bucks for it.

The second highest price of 58,000 euro was paid for the dressage bred Lawaldo, by Lauries Crusador xx x Warkant. Horst Medenwald bred this young colt out of the mare line that produced Celle State stallion Londonderry. Lawaldo sold to a dressage stable in the Emsland area.

The most expensive show jumping bred foal was Shutterfly's full brother Shytterboy. This Silvio I x Forrest xx colt sold for 50,000 euro to Belgium.

The most expensive filly was Flojo, a Florencio x Cordoba x Weltmeyer offspring bred by Harley Stables out of Heinrich Bolte's Goldlady dam line. Flojo sold for 30,000 euro to Westphalia.

Because of the gigantic auction lot of 210 foals, the auction had to be spread over three days. The average price for a foal was 7,890 euro. 115 foals were sold abroad, of which Spain bought 29, Italy 19 and Holland and Sweden both 10 foals.
