Lassandro Leads the Way at the 111th Elite Auction in Verden

It's been a while, but at the 111th Elite Auction of Hanoverian Sport horses in Verden it actually happened again: a show jumping horse taking highest honors in the price list of an auction. Fortunately, the audience didn't have to wait long for the magic to begin.

Lassandro, the first horse in the catalogue, immediately sold for the top knock down price of the auction. Perry and Peggy Thomas of River Grove Farm purchased this show jumping star by Landclassik x Sandro x Fruhlingsball for 180,000 euro. River Grove Farm, most known as the home base of Olympic rider Debbie McDonald, is originally a hunter/jumper farm, where Debbie's husband Bob McDonald is training the hunter horses.

Second most expensive horse was Donna Castania, a Don Primero x Calypso II mare who sold for 135,000 euro to a dressage barn in the Nordrhine Westfalen area.

The third 100,000+ horse was the delightful Brentana, a Brentano II x Weltmeyer x Argentinus mare, presented at the Gala Evening by Debbie McDonald. The mare sold for 125,000 euro to the United States.

The bay mare Saigon (Sandro Hit x Werther x Wenzel), who was bred by Heinrich Giesselmann and presented/ridden at the auction by Jan Dirk Giessellmann sold for 83,000 euro to a barn in Hamburg. This mare was Hanoverian Riding Horse Champion in Verden and Reserve Bundeschampionate Champion in Warendorf.

The top selling foal at the auction was Step Dancer, a Sandro Hit x De Niro colt, who sold for 26,000 euro to Gerd Knoop of Gestut Hoftehof in Meppen.

The average price for a horse at the 111th Elite Auction was 28.622 euro and the total revenue was 2.461.500 euro, the second best Autumn Elite Auction in Verden so far.
