Oldenburg and OS Elites Foals Much in Demand

Nearly
60 splendid specimens from the 2003 foal crop - Oldenburg
and Oldenburg-International (OS) - were auctioned during
the second Elite Foal Auction on Friday, August 22,
2003 at the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta.
The most expensive Oldenburg foal, Fantastica, a Fürst
Heinrich son bred by Ernst and Edith Fleitmann in Großenkneten,
was sold for 34,000 Euro. The dam, Edina (by De Niro),
was the 2001 Oldenburg Champion Mare. This young colt
named Fantastico was sold to Switzerland. All in all,
40 Oldenburg foals changed hands for a total of 346,400
Euro at an average price of 8,660 Euro. Nine foals were
sold abroad.
The top priced OS foal was a colt named Baltic King:
this Baloubet du Rouet son bred by Wilfried Fleming
in Löningen was sold to a buyer from Berlin for 19,000
Euro. The 18 offered OS foals achieved a total of 152,700
Euro at an average price of 8,483 Euro. Three of them
were sold abroad.
The results from the second Elite Foal Auction organized
by the Oldenburg Verband in co-operation with Oldenburg-International
were super: these highly in demand youngsters were sold
for a total of more than 500,000 Euro to buyers from
Europe and abroad. One of the most coveted was a son
out of the Oldenburg Champion Mare, Edina, who sold
to Switzerland for 34,000 Euro. 12 Oldenburg Verband
foals were sold for 10,000 Euro or more.
Quidam's
Cracker (by Quidam Rubin), bred by Franz-Josef Broxtermann
in Wardenburg, was sold to Gestüt Sprehe for 19,000
Euro. A Rohdiamant colt named Robbespiere (bred by Engelbert
Boeske in Goldenstedt) was purchased by a customer from
Austria for 20,000 Euro. Another top price was paid
for the filly, Czardasfürstin, bred by Margarete Strohm:
she was the winning filly at the 3rd German Foal Championships
and is by Fürst Heinrich - the brand new World Champion
of five year old dressage horses - was sold for 19,000
Euro.
A wide range of OS foals sold well: the top priced
foal sold for 19,000 Euro and five other talented youngsters
were sold for more than 10,000 Euro. Among these was
a Concetto son, Con Famos, who was sold to Canada for
14,500 Euro. Concetto is an internationally successful
jumper stallion under Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, recently
stationed at the new Gestüt Famos in Syke. His breeder,
Uwe Meyer and his mare, Ganza, also presented the top
priced foal at the 1st Elite Foal Auction called Lanaken.
Chartbreaker, a Come On son bred by Dr. Günther Bunge
in Wagefeld, will remain in Germany: he was purchased
by the Haase family in Fischerhude for 13,000 Euro.
