Dolomit Leads the Price List at 34th Vechta Spezial
Auction
The first Euro year in Vechta was brought to an honorable
conclusion with the 34th Special Auction - "Oldenburg
Late Sales" - on November 30, 2002: 25 riding horses
were sold for a total of 266,700 Euros, resulting in
an average price of 11,113 Euros. The lot of eleven
young stallions sold for a total of 168,000 Euros with
an average price of 15,273 Euros.
The highest priced horse was not found among the riding
horses but the young stallions: Dolomit (by De Niro-Rohdiamant)
changed hands for 40,000 Euros and is now owned by Bernhard
Schaerffer, Stade. The second highest priced horse was
a four year old Don Gregory son called Dublée (dam by
Rubinstein) sold to North Rhine Westphalia for 32,000
Euros (pictured above).
Four of the riding horses and two of the young stallions
were sold outside of Germany. A total of three talented
young Oldenburgs will make the jump across the English
Channel to their new homes in Great Britain.
A great number of Internet users, especially in foreign
countries, used the opportunity to follow the auction
live, several of which also made use of the phone to
bid on the horses they had selected.
Wilhelm Weerda, President of the Oldenburg Verband,
and auctioneer, Uwe Heckmann, were very pleased with
the results of the 34th Special Auction. "The fifth
and last auction this year, with its select collection,
also drew a number of interested people from near
and far - and the switch to the Euro also ran smoothly",
were Wilhelm Weerda's final comments.
Riding Horses
The
auction was as perfectly orchestrated as ever: number
one, a prized Don Gregory son, trotted in to be sold
right off the bat for 32,000 Euros to North Rhine
Westphalia. Max Hauri, a new customer from Switzerland,
made sure he got Laurel (by Laurion-Inschallah), an
experienced show jumper up to elementary level. A
Donatelli son, Damon Hill (dam by Feinbrand) and the
Rohdiamant daughter, Rose in Red (dam by Feiner Stern)
will be prepared for a career in the dressage ring.
The Ex Libris son pictured left, Eifelturm (dam by
Figaro) will receive his further training in England
under the World Champion rider, Emile Faurie, who
already has a talented young Oldenburg at international
level called Wild at Heart: the pair took eighth place
at the 2002 World Championships for five year old
dressage horses in Verden. The terrific jumper, Gransee
(by Granulit-Castro) was also sold to Great Britain
for 10,000 Euros.
Young Stallions
Bernhard Schaerffer purchased two horses with great
potential: Dolomit, the most expensive young stallion
(40,000 Euros) and Dostojewsky (by Don Gregory - Grundstein
II, breeder: Oliver Kotschowsky, Visbek) for 8,000
Euros. A Royal Dance son, Royal Court (dam by Chronos/Trak.,
breeder: J. F. A. Timmers, Uden, The Netherlands)
was sold to a buyer from Hessian. The approved Quebec
son, Qempas (dam by Argentinus, breeder: Irmtraud
Meyerhoff, Osterholz-Scharmbeck) was added to the
jumper armada in Schockemöhle's stables in Mühlen.
Carol Lawrence from the US purchased Radiance Boy,
also an approved stallion (by Rohdiamant-Cordeur,
breeder: Hans Blömer, Vechta) for 26.500 Euros .
