Oldenburger Auctions in Vechta

October Elite Auction 2000

With 11 horses out of 50 sold for more than 100,000 DM and with 18 horses going abroad, the Vechta Elite auction seems to be going through a "Verdenization". Often regarded by outsiders to be theplace to get a buy-of-your-lifetime because of its reasonable prices, the Vechta elite auctions draw a wealthier crowd with each of their auctions. It is more than obvious that two factors come into play for pushing up prices at elite auctions in Germany. If a horse is a stallion you can generally add at least 50,000 DM and if it has won a top place at the German Bundeschampionate, than add 100,000 DM to 200,000 DM. Predicting prices at auctions is therefore not a paranormal gift.

Highlight of the 53rd Elite Auction of Oldenburg sport horses in Vechta was Royal Olymp, or formerly known as Roubeni M. Third placed at the German Young Horse Championships early September, Royal Olymp easily attracted the interest of many buyers. The gorgeous chestnut, who will be participating in this year's licensing will luckily stay in Germany, as he got sold for 520,000 DM to a dressage barn in Plaaz.

Other highflyers was Die Krönung, better known as Donna Doria, the Landeschampion of the 3-year-olds and young mare champion in Radstede. For 200,000 DM, Die Krönung (by Donnerschlag x Rosenkavalier, moves to Gestut St. Ludwig in Mönchen Gladbach. Derby Wette, an elegant chestnut mare by Donnerschwee x Grundstein, has found her new home at the Los Angeles Equestrian center in the USA for the same amount.

More top prices were paid for some wonderful Oldenburg dressage horses. Renard, by Rubinstein x Karon/T, moved to Mexico for 170,000 DM, while Rosige Zeit (Rohdiamant x Abajo xx) staid in her own country and travelled to Stuttgart for 165,000 DM. Ann Kathrin Kroth bought Words of Glory, a Welt Hit II x Plaisir d'Amour, gelding for 120,000 DM. She also added the most expensive foal of the foal collection, Rynok, to her dressage barn. The Rubinstein x Nandino xx colt was sold for 100,000 DM.

50 auctioned horses made an average price of 79.116 DM, with 520,000 DM as highest bid and 20,000 DM the lowest. 18 horses moved abroad.
